Thin Layer Chromatography

Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)

“When it concerns the physical separation of non-volatile components, thin line chromatography is the best process for identifying the constituent compounds.”

Non-volatile liquids are very hard to separate by normal physical means. For this reason, thin layer chromatography is used. In this action, a very thin sheet of aluminum foil or plastic is used as the separating medium. thin layer chromatography equipment. The film is generally coated with an adsorbent material, which is usually silica, aluminum oxide, or cellulose. Thanks to this adsorbent material, the sample under test gets separated, and the consisting liquids appear as spots on the entire foil sheet.

Thin Layer Chromatography Analysis

At Nishka, we practice different kinds of thin layer chromatography to ensure the results procured have a hundred percent accuracy and precision. thin layer chromatography examples. Our experts spend lots of time in preparing the sample, arranging the setup for the thin layer chromatography analysis and then, proceeding with the separation process. During every examination, our primary concern involves the physical environment, and that is why our experts ensure the experiments are done under controlled situations.

Principle of TLC at Nishka

The TLC principle relies on the affinity of the sample compounds with the stationary phase of the adsorbent material coating the film. Here, once the sample is placed on a sheet at a beginning point, the compounds having a higher affinity to the stationary phase moves slowly, thereby creating a low-velocity mobile phase. As for the compounds having low affinity, gain more mobile phase velocity and spread further.

As the compounds get separated, they form spots along the line markers made on the sheet. After the separation, each component is then studied in different ways to determine their physical behaviors and chemical characteristics. Our experts at Nishka use the standard marker sheet to ensure that the study of the compounds can be done with reference to a set of knowledge. Also, multiple tests are run to ensure the results are the same throughout.

Once the deduction is complete, they collect the results and then move to study the characteristics by implementing other different methods.

Applications of TLC for Nishka clients

We have partnered up with different industries where studying non-volatile liquids is a great concern. Through our advanced research team, we try our level best to provide a hundred percent correct report based on several intensive studies related to TLC.

At Nishka, we provide our thin layer chromatography services to:

Biomedical Industries: in the biomedical industry, our TLC results have found a wide application, especially since the process can procure the best results for blood plasma separation, fluid detection, analysis of serum, and others.
Pharmaceutical Industries: we have partnered up with many pharmaceutical businesses where TLC is used for quality testing of various compounds like sedatives, analgesics, steroids, antihistamines, and others.
Oil-based Industries: in the oil-based industries, TLC is widely used to detect the composition of the essential oils, separate the mixed natural oil, obtain the organic compounds from different samples, etc.
Cosmetic Industry: another major industry where we have extended our services is the cosmetic industry. Here, the study of different compounds is done through the TLC, especially the liquids, perfumes, etc.
