OINDPs (Orally Inhaled and Nasal Drug Products) are specialized drug-device combinations that deliver medications directly to the respiratory tract or nasal passages. This category includes pressurized metered-dose inhalers (pMDIs), dry powder inhalers (DPIs), nebulizers, inhalation sprays (e.g. soft-mist), and nasal sprays/powders. These products enable targeted therapy: for example, asthma and COPD treatments use inhalers, while intranasal sprays treat allergic rhinitis or deliver drugs to the brain (e.g. migraine or emergency therapies). OINDPs bypass first-pass metabolism and often achieve rapid onset; modern designs range from simple propellant-driven aerosols to sophisticated nano-carrier formulations for deep lung or nasal delivery. By enabling precise particle sizing and controlled release, OINDPs open opportunities in both local and systemic therapies (Parkinson’s, diabetes, etc.), making them a high-value focus in pharmaceutical R&D.

Our in-house laboratories feature a Hitachi FE-SEM S-4800 with Oxford X-Max 20 EDS for high-resolution imaging and elemental analysis – ideal for examining micronized drug particles, spray nozzle orifice wear, and any particulate contaminants. DSC and TGA instruments allow us to analyze the thermal profile of excipients or detect moisture uptake in powders. Though we do not offer chromatography, we collaborate with trusted labs to provide assay, impurity profiling, and inhaler propellant analysis.
